Dear comrades,
As the CP of Slovakia briefed and communicated on Solidnet , [http://www.solidnet.org/slovakia-communist-party-of-slovakia/1839-cp-of-slovakia-the-capital-and-his-minions-are-still-more-and-more-nervous-en-ru], on 1st September 2011 will come into force the recent reactionary amendment to the Penal Code which was passed in the Slovakian Parliament, which contains provisions for prison sentences ranging from 6 months to 3 years for anyone who denies, applauds or tries to justify the so-called “crimes of the regime which was based on the communist ideology.”
At the 12th IMCWP which was held in 2010 in South Africa we had decided collectively that “We will resolutely fight anticommunism, anti-communist laws, measures and persecution; to demand the legalisation of CPs where outlawed. We will defend the history of the communist movement, the contribution of socialism in advancing human civilisation.”
The Working Group, based on the above, proposes to the Communist and Worker’s Parties to carry out on the 1st of September protest actions of every kind (representations and protests at the Slovakian embassies and EU delegations, statements and press conferences, publications, demonstrations and any other suitable method which each Party decides on) and to express their internationalist solidarity with the CP of Slovakia.
