No to the terror against workers-activists!

Statement by the Chairman of the CPRF Central Committee

On February 15 this year at 5:00 AM in the town of Zlatoust bandit attack was committed against trade union member of Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant, delegate to the All-Russia congress of labor collectives' representatives, candidate to the town council, communist Alexander Negrebetskikh. The worker-activist received a head injury.

Negrebetskikh's social activity, strikes, which he organized, hunger strikes, which he personally repeatedly carried out preventing the plant from shutdown, and protecting the rights of workers, has long caused severe irritation among the powers that be. Not once the worker-communist received threats, which have increased especially after his participation in the Congress of labor collectives and his nomination as a candidate for deputy.

Russian authorities are constantly looking for reasons to accuse the opposition representatives of extremism. However, we are increasingly dealing with political terror against communists. The attack against Alexander Negrebetskikh is yet another event in the infamous series.

We expect the bodies of internal affairs and the prosecutor's office to carry out a thorough investigation in order to identify and bring to justice the masterminds and perpetrators of bandit attack against the candidate for deputy.

The CPRF expresses its full support to Alexander Negrebetskikh in its struggle for rights and interests of the working people of the plant and the city of Zlatoust.
