  'Ik ben eigenlijk constant woedend', heeft Spiegel eens gezegd in een interview met Ben Haveman in de Volkskrant. 'Zoals De Bruyn van de toenmalige Katholieke Arbeiders Beweging aan het eind van zijn leven zei: de arbeiders zijn hun leven lang belazerd. Dus moet elke arbeider aan het eind van zijn leven woedend zijn.'

  Spiegel is journalist, heeft twee linkerhanden en is niet katholiek. Maar hij is wel woedend. In dit boek zijn een dertigtal recente stukjes gebundeld van de ruim 600 die hij er in de loop van veertien jaar voor het Amsterdamse Wierings Weekblad heeft geschreven. Eerst wel eens geestig, zegt hij zelf, maar later steeds sarcastischer: over het kapitalisme dat de mensen verminkt: 'In plaats van een grapjas te zijn hebben we dus verkozen een journalist te zijn en u informatie te verschaffen over vele zaken waarover u informatie wordt onthouden; welbewust en opzettelijk naar het ons voorkomt.'

  Daarom werd zijn rubriek verboden door drs W. van Norden, president-directeur van de NV Perscombinatie, die nette kranten beheert: Het Parool, de Volkskrant, Trouw, Het Vrije Volk; elk bonafide volksdeel zijn eigen krant. De Spiegels kwamen gratis huis aan huis, en dat mocht niet meer. Daarmee werd zoals Cor van der Poel schreef in het vakblad De Journalist 'een uniek journalistiek talent [ ... ] op de vuilnisbelt gegooid.' Spiegel zelf: 'Enfin, we nemen zonder veel bitterheid afscheid; we danken onze vrienden, en als u ooit nog eens ergens op een stukkie papier wat leest van iemand die te ver gaat dan hebt u kans dat wij dat zijn; want zwijgen zullen we niet.’

  Thanks to Eva Golinger, we get very precise and serious, i. e. objective information about the maneuvers the US (backed by its allies in the aim to promote the free market) uses to control countries in a way that the polit-economic interests of the US may be preserved as much as possible. What an incredible amount of corpses and destruction all over the world this includes should allways be present in any mind. I recommend Tim Weiners book "Legacy of the Ashes" for this purpose.
